Bull’s Trench Kiln is a continuous kiln patented by an English
engineer, William Bull1, in October 1893 the design was based on the Hoffmann kiln principle but using a larg trench in place of a building, the fire being lit from one side under the bricks and the gases extracted using a mobile or a fixed chimney. It is highly polluting, presently using all sort of materials besides coal e.g. tyres, plastics, wood etc. The most common and widely used kiln in India and Pakistan. Any of the Alternate Technologies unable to make its place because of upfront heavy cost and trained manpower besides the natural inertia to change. for gradual transition we are working on inproving the exsisting technology despite is an environmental hazzards.
