G. W. Bush and the New Democratic Arab World.

As we see the peoples push for a Democratic solution in Africa and the Middle East I can only hope that the actions of President George W. Bush and his administration will be considered as one of the catalyst. Could it be that the diffusion of information, using the modern media, has made populations realize, "We Can Too"? As the everyday Arabs have seen demonstrated in Iraq, unpopular Dictators, are not always the only option. The gradual, sometimes imperfect transition, to a democracy has a better endgame than a new repressive regime. When you see Sunni and Shiites voting to participate in one country together, the realization that everyone can have a voice, becomes a call for igual representation. Absent from the reporting, at this time, is any mention to GW's idea that once you establish a democratic Irag, others may follow.

The time has come to embrace the idea that our investments in Iraq and Afghanistan are stimulating the Arab street to reach for the sky. The vision of a representative government, with rights for all is quickly becoming a rallying chant for change. The successful attempt in Egypt to implement change, with the least amount of bloodshed has now cornered the despots that remain in power worldwide.

I believe we are seeing the beginning of a world which demands equality and self determination with no place for dictators or all encompassing governments. The free will of the people will be heard and credit should be given to those who believed strongly enough in the cause to ignite it.
