Open Letter to El Pais in Spain, " G.W.Bush and the Changing Arab World."

Estimados Colegas,
Les escribo en ingles, ya que el Espanol es mi tercera lengua y quiero ser preciso. Perdon por tenerlos que traducir lo escrito.

G.W.Bush and the Changing Arab World.

After reading Luis Bassets piece today, in El Pais, titled Bush no estaba Corecto, I am mistified by the demeaning character of the piece. We all know that Bush was a very unpopular president as to the international press community. Always viewed as the stereotypical gunslinger from the USA. The continued reference to 'neoconservatives" in the article demonstrates the impossibility of giving any credit for his actions and now subsequent reactions accelerated by his policies in regards to the Arab world. As we all live in a very complicated and intertwined global community it is very easy to disregard the vision of a personally despised leader. I am not writing to justify, step by step, the repercussions of his actions. I write to make my opinion a public matter..
For Mr. Bassets to try to diminish what many are thinking on the Arab street, seams to be a very self serving opinion necessitated by the murmur of the obvious question percolating up, "Maybe Bush was correct? Maybe his doctrine of showing others that dictators and despots can be removed and the voice of the people can democratically be heard is right?" At this point in time, no one can correctly see the future but we can only analyze the past for guidance to our interpretation of events. History will decide, if this simple man, from Texas, who believed in the goodness of men, lit the flame of democracy in the hearts and souls of our Arab brothers. Let not our prejudices and mindless repetition of the old mantra of Guantamano, the power of the USA, interdiction, etc cloud the reality of the moment. Sometimes simple men, with all encompassing ideas have changed the course of our history's.
He might have done some very unpopular things in the march to democratize the region, but to dismissive the results reminds me of my favorite author's writings. Cervantes.
Thank you for the opportunity to write your fine publication.

Australian Company Will Kill Camels for Cash, Carbon Credits

Northwest Carbon thinks that farmers and hunters who help rid the nation of its feral camel population should be compensated with carbon credits. Australia does indeed have a major feral camel problem — the invasive species is crowding out native ones, trampling vegetation, and rapidly reproducing. But proposing that killing them be redeemable for carbon [...]
